EFT – Helping Your Body to Strike the Lost Chord…

By the end of the session, my whole body was resonating like the lost chord!

This client was expressing a common response to Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).  A non-invasive, latter-day descendant of Acupuncture and Acupressure, the objective of EFT is to harmonize and align the body’s energies, so that all output pushes in the same direction, and pulses on the right beat.

Like a symphony orchestra, the many parts of the human brain and body strive to work in harmony.  But even a normal lifetime is marked by episodes of physical illness, mental stress, hard work and random misfortune.  Any or all of these shocks along the way can throw our personal orchestras out of harmony, and the resulting sound can be grating to the ears.  Extreme stress can throw us even farther out of tune – and that’s where EFT comes in.

By tapping on a sequence of acupuncture points and stimulating specific nerves in the proper order, it’s possible to restore the harmony that has been damaged by years of hard use – and to get us back to our old selves – or even better!

Over the past 12 years EFT has been tried, with very impressive success, on a variety of problems ranging from post traumatic stress syndrome and irritable bowel syndrome to addiction treatment (making cravings and urges pass quickly) and chronic pain.  It has also been used on problems like weight loss and fear of public speaking.

Although the length of treatment time may vary, results have been very good, and there is a substantial bank of success stories with a wide variety of ailments.  EFT, like most other forms of complimentary health care, does not replace conventional medical care.  But it can help to significantly speed up recovery times and in some troublesome cases may provide relief to sufferers where other methods do not.

EFT is completely non-invasive.  No needles are used – and it can be taught to clients who wish to work on themselves.  According to former Stamford University researcher Gary Craig, co-developer of the system, EFT has been successfully used since its introduction in the mid-1990s to help alleviate such complaints as:

Pain Management, Addictions, Weight loss, Allergies, Children’s Issues, Animals, Vision, Headaches, Panic/Anxiety, Asthma, Trauma, PTSD, Abuse, Depression, Dyslexia, Carpal Tunnel, Anger, ADD-ADHD, Fears/phobias, Eating disorders, OCD, Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Neuropathy, Fear of Flying, Claustrophobia, Agoraphobia, Anorexia/Bulimia, Sports and other Performance

In his public presentation Craig quotes Dr. Norm Shealy, MD, author of Soul Medicine: “Meridian-based therapies such as EFT…can have effects out of all proportion to their cost and complexity.”
