Monika earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she worked with the Men’s Varsity Basketball team as an athletic trainer treating injuries at practices and games. It was during this time with the basketball team that Monika was introduced to Massage Therapy as a tool in the rehabilitation of injuries.
Monika returned to Toronto to attend Sutherland-Chan School and Teaching Clinic, where she earned her diploma in Massage Therapy. Additionally, she took specialty classes in sports massage therapy and volunteered at community sporting events.
Through Monika’s experience treating athletes in various settings, she realized her passion for creating individualized treatments to help athletes recover from their injuries and get back to the game as quickly as possible.
Monika is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and she provides exercise tips to patients as an adjunct to manual treatment and takes a treatment-based approach to massage therapy.
She focuses on identifying the nature of the individual’s pain or dysfunction and addresses it using a variety of Swedish Massage-based techniques, along with gentle joint mobilizations and exercise prescription.
Monika has experience treating a variety of conditions including sprains/strains, tendinitis, nerve entrapment syndromes, headaches, frozen shoulder and arthritis.
